Sydney Dance Company

Project Rameau

Kunming Theatre, China

A stunning performance from Sydney Dance Company featuring the music of Jean-Philippe Rameau.

Artistic Director Rafael Bonachela brings Rameau’s dynamic Baroque ballet and opera music into the 21st century with Project Rameau. Fusing refined Baroque music with beautiful contemporary dance, Project Rameau’s premiere season played to packed theatres and critical acclaim.

Sydney Dance Company first toured to China in 1985 and the Company has returned regularly since then with the last visit being to Shanghai in 2010. Bonachela’s detailed choreography sees the dancers use their awe-inspiring athleticism to perform with elegance and grace. Audiences shouldn’t miss this rare opportunity to see one of Australia’s finest ensembles take to the stage.

This project was created in 2012 in collaboration with Richard Tognetti and the Australian Chamber Orchestra.

“Energy pours off the stage… a flawless performance.” Sydney Morning Herald

“This performance is at the French-Champagne-and-Beluga-Caviar end of the entertainment menu – something everyone should experience at least once in their lives.” Stage Whispers, Australia
