Rafael Bonachela's

Irony of Fate

Irony of Fate is a sublime duet performed by one female dancer and a violinist. In this piece, virtuosity and passion come together, as two artists embark on a journey that takes them to the brink of exhaustion. The work is a dialogue, with the dancer responding to the crisp, complex and occasionally abrasive music of Partita by Vytautas Barkauskas. Irony of Fate won Bonachela third prize in the 19th International Competition of Choreographers in Hanover 2005.

“…a gripping duet…a performance of such physical drive.”

“…Bonachela working at his highest level.”
