Jessica Thompson


Jessica Thompson was born in Perth and began ballet lessons at the age of five under the guidance of Terri Charlesworth. After completing her training at The Australian Ballet School in 2003, she graduated with an Advanced Diploma of Dance and joined the Australian Ballet Company. She danced with the Australian Ballet for four years and during this time toured throughout Australia and internationally to London, Cardiff, Shanghai, Auckland and Tokyo. In 2009 Jessica joined The Royal New Zealand Ballet Company and following this she returned to Melbourne to dance with the Melbourne Ballet Company. In 2010 Jessica was awarded a grant from the Ian Potter Cultural Trust to undertake professional, artistic development in Europe and India.

Jessica joined Sydney Dance Company in 2012 for the touring season of The Land of Yes & The Land of No. Jessica has also performed in Stephanie Lake’s Dream Lucid (2012) as part of Contemporary Women in the Spring Dance Festival 2012; Project Rameau (2012-2013) and the acclaimed season of De Novo (2013), featuring works by Rafael Bonachela (Emergence) and Alexander Ekman (Cacti).

Jessica was a part of the collaboration with Kaldor Public Art Projects for the contemporary art exhibition 13 Rooms where Sydney Dance Company featured in Allora and Calzadilla’s Revolving Door.

In 2013 Jessica was part of the acclaimed 2 One Another international tour to North America, South America and Russia.

In 2014, Jessica will be part of the triple bill Interplay, featuring choreography by Rafael Bonachela, Jacopo Godani and Gideon Obarzanek. Interplay will premiere at Sydney Theatre (15 March – 5 April) followed by Canberra Theatre Centre (10-12 April) and Southbank Theatre, Melbourne (30 April – 10 May).
