Cass Mortimer Eipper


Born in Melbourne, Cass trained at the Australian Ballet School and performed with the West Australian Ballet from 2006-2009 being named Most Outstanding Dancer and Choreographer to Watch in Dance Australia’s Critics Survey 2009. While working with the West Australian Ballet, Cass choreographed numerous works including It Is, Soul Searching, Adaptation and Ludwig Ravelling and in 2013 will premiere his new work Yes I’ll move fore you.

In 2010 Cass became co-director of the Australian dance/media company, Ludwig, and has since created and performed in numerous new dance works including Solo 1.5, which was awarded Most Outstanding Performance at the 2011 Rome International Choreography Competition. In 2012 he was awarded 3rd prize at the Stuttgart International Dance Theatre Festival for his performance in BodySong, choreographed by Emma Sandall. In 2012 Cass also created and performed the critically acclaimed multimedia / dance production Fleck&Flecker with co-creator Emma Sandall.

Cass joined Sydney Dance Company in January 2013 and has performed in the acclaimed season of De Novo (2013), featuring works by Rafael Bonachela (Emergence), Larissa McGowan (Fanatic) and Alexander Ekman (Cacti); and Les Illuminations (2013). He was a part of the collaboration with Kaldor Public Art Projects for the contemporary art exhibition 13 Rooms where Sydney Dance Company featured in Allora and Calzadilla’s Revolving Door.

In 2013, Cass toured Bonachela’s 2 One Another internationally with the Company to North America, South America and Russia.

In 2014, Cass will be part of the triple bill Interplay, featuring choreography by Rafael Bonachela, Jacopo Godani and Gideon Obarzanek. Interplay will premiere at Sydney Theatre (15 March – 5 April) followed by Canberra Theatre Centre (10-12 April) and Southbank Theatre, Melbourne (30 April – 10 May).
